Description
Summary:The Natal Movement embodied the first mass distance learning initiative and the Joint Pastoral of the Catholic Church, having also been the predecessor of the Movimento de Educação de Base (MEB), a combined initiative of the CNBB and the MEC that in the 1960s used the Paulo Freire Method and the thoughts of Father Henrique Vaz, bringing together, in this effort, Catholicism and Marxism. We use the theoretical support of Jacques Derrida and Roger Griffin to analyze the activities, context and ideas of the Archdiocese of Natal in the 1930s to 1950s, explaining that these activities triggered the rapprochement between Catholicism and Marxism.
