Summary: | The target of this research is to pay to the knowledge of the architectural work bequeathed by Leonardo de Figueroa’s grandson as a professional to the diocese of Seville, being this study centred on the Baroque city of Ecija. Antonio de Figueroa, erroneously known as Antonio Matias, despite being the most prolific Master-builder of the whole Archidiocese of Sevilla in the second half of the 18th century, has not received due recognition from historiography. Many of his works have remained far too unknown till these days, while it’s definitely being gorgeously shone at that city. To clear this all out we have to say that his work is documented in this article, in five of the parishes, and it’s to be highlighted the unprecedented project of Antonio’s on carrying out the core of the church and the sacramental chapel of Santa Maria, culminating the work begun by his father Ambrosio. |
