| Summary: | After decades of damages in its external pieces, the Sevillian church of St. Bartolome has started the restoration of its more visible and significant element: its beautiful and unfinished tower. On this unique tower, composed nowadays of a shaft and body bell, will make in a first stage labors of structural consolidation and recovery of linings, pretending later to replace the crown that was lost in the middle of last Century. That end will be the originally one projected to crown the tower, accordingly to the project of restoration memory. Nevertheless, the study of the building process of the church, the knowledge of the diocesan architecture in this age -both questions being studied in this paper- and certain contemporary pictures may consider this crown as very later on time. The discussion is just starting., Tras décadas de deterioro de sus elementos exteriores, el sevillano templo de San Bartolomé ha visto por fin iniciada la restauración del más significativo de ellos, que no es otro que su esbelta e inacabada torre. Sobre la singular atalaya, compuesta en la actualidad sólo por fuste y cuerpo de campanas, se acometerán en una primera fase labores de consolidación estructural y de recuperación de sus revestimientos, estando prevista posteriormente la reposición del remate perdido a mediados del siglo pasado. Dicho remate sería, según la memoria del proyecto de restauración, el originalmente proyectado para coronar la torre. Sin embargo, tanto el análisis del proceso constructivo del templo como el conocimiento de la arquitectura diocesana de la época, aspectos que desarrolla el presente artículo, así como algún testimonio gráfico coetáneo, llevan a datarlo indefectiblemente en una fecha muy posterior. El debate, pues, está servido. |
