| Resumo: | John Henry Newman was, with no doubt, a very high skilled thinker. Philosopher, historian, theologian, scholar, he left a deep footprint in the English culture of his century. Within ten years of his death, because of his notoriety, six biographical writings of different types and qualities have been published. The Author review these texts in order to offer the scholars the essential coordinates to understand Newman's first reception in the British cultural context. John Henry Newman è stato un pensatore di grande abilità. Filosofo, storico, teologo, letterato, ha inciso profondamente nella cultura inglese del suo secolo. Nell'arco di dieci anni dalla morte, vista la sua fama, sono stati pubblicati sei scritti di carattere biografico di diverso tipo e qualità. Tali testi vengono passati in rassegna allo scopo di offrire agli studiosi e ai cultori della materia le coordinate essenziali per comprendere la prima recezione di Newman nel contesto culturale britannico. |
