| Summary: | Taking the private archive of the Almeida Garrett's family as a point of observation and constituting it a case study of a private archive that contributes to the local memory at the religious level, this article aims to discuss the potentialities of this type of archives for the analysis of the relationship between the religious phenomenon and memory. Through the documentation of the Commission Promoting the Restoration of the Bishopric of Castelo Branco, which constituted one of the subsystems of the archive, it is intended to demonstrate the importance of this documentary heritage for the construction of the history and memory of religious institutions/organizations. This work also constitutes a fundamental starting point for further studies. |
