Esta primeira Bíblia passou,mais tarde, da Ásia para Portugal e daí para os países de língua portuguesa. Teve até hoje umas 2000 edições, num total de uns 150 000 000 de exemplares, o que faz deste tradutor o mais produtivo da língua portuguesa. É praticamente a única Bíblia editada pelos protestantes de língua portuguesa, mas o seu autor e a sua obra guardava ainda muitos mistérios, antes deste estudo. João Ferreira Annes d'Almeida was the first biblical translator into portuguese, in the XVII century. His New Testament was published in 1681, in Batavia (Jakarta), where Almeida lived most of his life. This first Bible then went from Asia to Portugal and from there to the portuguese speaking countries. Until today, the text has had around 2.000 editions corresponding to a total amount of 150.000.000 copies. This, makes this translator the most productive author of the portuguese language. It is practically the only Bible published by the portuguese speaking protestants, but either the author and his work had still lots of unknowned aspects before this study. |
