Summary:Two new norms regulating marriage nullity processes came into effect on 8 December 2015. These norms were established by Pope Francis in his motu proprio Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus and motu proprio Mitis et misericors Iesus, the first for the Latin Church and the second for the Eastern churches. The present article offers an overview of motu proprio Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus, with reference to the most significant developments concerning the issues of competent forum and the appeals system.
