Summary: | In its contemporary life-narrative form, the testimonial especially interests today’s philosophers, as on the one hand its exercise is very much alive and on the other hand its vocation to bear testimony reopens, while respecting singularities, the question of universality. Our paper aims to put forward two characteristics of testimony that distinguish it from the life-narrative in general ; the event that propells it and the formal esthetic that it necessarily depends on. The shift from its judiciary form of testimony to its contemporary form is examined from an historical perspective. The history of this shift indicates a filiation between biblical testimony to life-narrative testimony. |
