| Summary: | As for the different moral maps in the ancient times, Charles Taylor considers the evolution experienced from Plato to Agustin of Hipona. According to Taylor, the contrast between the images of Agustin and Plato, despite the continuity of their metaphysical theory, resides in an important philosophical difference. Whereas that for Plato the world of the objects drives us to the world of the Ideas and the rational order, Agustin of Hipona abandons that perspective and focuses on the consciousness of the world inside and the relevance of the first person. We are able to capture the intelligible world not only because of the eye of the soul addressed to the objects but because of the intimacy of the autopresence in God. |
