Il n'est pas sans intérêt d'étudier comment la Première Guerre mondiale a impacté de façon différentielle ces communautés, dans une province, certes de l'Arrière, mais aussi au cœur d'un espace stratégique maritime. On the eve of the conflict, Protestantism in Brittany was on a very modest scale: there were a certain number of fairly large Reformed Churches in urban areas like Nantes, and a host of Methodist and Baptist missions, for the most part in Lower Brittany. It is interesting to study the range of ways in which the First World War affected these communities, which were, it is true, in a province far removed from the front lines, but at the heart of a strategic naval area. Am Vorabend des Konflikts ist der bretonische Protestantismus recht bescheiden: er vereinigt ein paar reformierte Stadtgemeinden von einer gewissen Bedeutung, wie z.B. in Nantes, und einen Umkreis von methodistischen und baptistischen Vorposten, die sich hauptsächlich in der westlichen Bretagne befinden. Es ist reizvoll zu untersuchen, wie der Erste Weltkrieg diese Gemeinschaften beeinflusst hat, in einer Provinz die zwar hinter der Front liegt, aber auch inmitten eines strategischen Küstenraums. |
