This collection includes ‘the first sermon I ever preached’, on 23 June 1824 at Over Worton (where Newman’s schoolmaster mentor, Walter Mayers, was curate), on ‘waiting on God’; and ‘the first sermon I ever wrote’, preached at St Clement’s the following Sunday, on Ps. 104:23, ‘Man goeth forth to his work and to his labour until the evening’. | ||
