| Summary: | The "path of synodality" identified by Pope Francis as what "God expects of the Church of the third millennium" is a very attractive notion, yet confusing from the standpoint of those excluded from the clericalized leadership structures of the Catholic ecclesiastical life. This problematic is critically analysed from an Asian/Indian woman's perspective, bringing to relief gender concerns underlying the process of becoming a synodal church. The Indian Christian Women's Movement (ICWM), which is an autonomous platform that brings together women from the Christian denominations in India is presented as a model of synodality in praxis, a new way of being Church. |
