Descripción
Sumario:The author analyzes Lebanon's first postwar parliamentary elections and compares them with those of the prewar period. The 1992 parliamentary elections were characterized by before unprecedented confessional divisions and the non-existence of a real political opposition. Moreover the elections have widened the gap between state and society. The author holds mainly the preparations which preceded the elections, namely the elctoral law and the timing of the elections, responsible for this. (DÜI-Mjr)
