Description
Summary:The article deals with the two »Israel-promises« of the book of Genesis, with the promise of the land and that of the great people as a gift of God. As the promises are annunciations for the future, for the descendents, and are not fulfilled in the same generation, they are prospective gifts. On the one hand they are voluntary and not indebted donations (expressed also in the irregularities of the transmission from one generation to the other), on the other there are certain expectations of the donator, because a gift commits the receiver to a gift in return. For the promises God expects in return the belief in their realization as well as a suitable behavior in the given promised land.
