Summary: | The author undertook a research project with parishes in the Anglican Diocese of Adelaide, South Australia, 2013-2014 to find evidence, if any, as to whether a learning community approach enhanced learning outcomes in parishes. The three learning processes of holism, collaboration and theological reflection define this approach. The image of the body of Christ' provides a biblical foundation for the approach. The article explores the effectiveness of a learning community process in relation to the enhancement of learning outcomes. Research participants reported much growth and enhancement of their knowledge, understanding and practice of the Christian faith where parishes practised all three learning processes. Implications of the research results for parish ministry practice today are discussed. |
