Description
Summary:The issue of Christocentrism in the encyclical Veritatis splendor hardly concerns the theological framework of a doctrinal core that would only belong to rational ethics. The study shows how it is the pivot of ethical teaching, thus intimately connecting the doctrine on moral absolutes with the Christian heart of morality. After tracing an overview of the paths of Christocentrism in Catholic moral theology, the author outlines the Christocentric features of St John Paul II’s encyclical on the foundations of morality, then shows its relevance in a critical comparison with recent proposals for a ‘new paradigm’ for theological ethics.
