| Summary: | The aim of this paper is to focus on a peculiar confrontation between the documents that were produced in Vatican dicasteries and selected paragraphs of "Xiądz Faust" ("Father Faust") written by Tadeusz Miciński (1873-1918). Thanks to this, it will be possible to observe the way in which the gnostic tradition clashes with the Christian tradition in the framework of the literary world. At the same time, it will be possible to point out such intellectual and spiritual parts of that world, in which gnosis and Christianity can coexist. Moreover, thanks to this, it will turn out that the novels of the Polish writer undertake to address problems whose meaning is fully grasped only in the contemporary Christian reflection. |
