Description
Résumé:Offers a concise overview of the Catholic Belgian and Dutch missions of the 19th and 20th centuries. After outlining the evolution of the ideas underlying the Catholic mission in this period, an overview is given of the main achievements of the missionary congregations in the Low Countries. A few important individuals are also discussed, and an impression is given of the number of active missionaries. In sketching the Belgian and Dutch contribution to international missionary institutions, the emphasis is on the shifting position of the Western missionary. The latter is no longer the typical leader, but rather acts in the service of the local churches.
