| Summary: | O Inventário Artístico do Patriarcado de Lisboa é o mais antigo instrumento museológico de inventariação do vasto e valiosíssimo património da Igreja em Portugal. Concebido por uma equipa de excepção – constituída por Carlos de Azevedo (1918-55), D. João de Castro (1908-2000) e José Bénard Guedes Salgado (1931- ) – foi resultado de um conjunto de interesses e saberes que encontraram no movimento de renovação litúrgica e artística e na política de formação dos religiosos e de consolidação do papel da Igreja na sociedade portuguesa, desenvolvida durante o arcebispado de D. Manuel Cerejeira, um terreno fértil. Através das biografias técnicas das três personagens mencionadas e do recurso a documentação inédita sobre a Comissão de Arte Sacra do Patriarcado de Lisboa procurarei responder a três questões: o que é o inventário, quem o fez e com que propósito. The Artistic Inventory of the Diocese of Lisbon is the oldest museological tool of inventory ever used in the extended and valuable heritage of the Catholic Church in Portugal. Being the result of a conjugation of ideals and knowledge it was conceived by an exceptional team formed by Carlos de Azevedo (1918‑55), D. João de Castro (1908‑2000) and José Bénard Guedes Salgado (1931‑ ). It also benefits from the movements of liturgical and artistic renovation that were developed inside the Church at the beginning of the 20th century as well as the policy headed by the Archbishop D. Manuel Cerejeira that extol the education of the clergy and the consolidation of the role of Catholic Church within the Portuguese society. Exploring the biographies of the members of the inventory team and using unpublished documentation I tried to answer three important questions: what is the inventory, who executed it and which was its purpose. |
