Description
Summary:Defining the theological quality of Dante's poetry is pretty difficult. It can be said that it even borders on the limits of hazard since Dante, even from the theological point of view, is an eclectic, transversal to any school belonging. Conversely, no reasonable doubts can be advanced about the actual intentionality of the Comedy, which is primarily practical and transformative. Through the effectiveness of the aesthetic register, Dante's poem qualifies as the dramatic representation of a profound and complete conversion to which Dante invites the reader. This article aims to take into consideration, by way of example, some of the major "metaphors" of redemption skilfully arranged in the development of the Comedy. The allegory of the «journey», the appeal to human freedom implicitly recalled by the theological category of «satisfaction» and, above all, the divine figure of «love» shape the major lines of a masterpiece that still fascinates today.
