Description
Summary:Religious experience is a notoriously difficult topic in the philosophy of religion. Suspicions of projection or psychological mechanisms make it difficult to integrate the phenomenon into a philosophical justification of religious beliefs. Swinburne, Plantinga, and Alston are three examples of philosophers of religion who – each in his way – try to assign religious experience a place in their defences of the rationality of religious belief. Their positions are analyzed and compared, and a common deficit is pointed out. Otto Muck's conception of »Weltanschauung« as the embedding framework of religious experience is proposed as a possible remedy.
