A construção de papéis sociais femininos em uma comunidade muçulmana varia de acordo com diversos fatores, como gênero, etnia, nível educacional, tempo de permanência no país e intensidade do contato com a sociedade hospedeira. Apresento aqui discursos de lideranças, além de falas e ações de sujeitos comuns ligados a duas mesquitas paulistas com diferentes perfis étnicos, ocupacionais e de distribuição espacial. A técnica de pesquisa utilizada foi a de observação participante e o período pesquisado, os anos de 2004 e 2006. | ||

The construction of femalesocial roles in a Muslim community dependson several factors, such as gender, ethnicbackgrounds, educational level, time of perma-nence in the country, and the intensity ofcontact with the host society. Here I presentdiscourses uttered by religious leaderships,besides acts and speeches from ordinary sub-jects, mainly from two Muslim communitiesin São Paulo characterized by different occu-pational, ethnic, and spatial distribution pro-files.
