Summary: | China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand and 10 Southeast Asian nations have formed a common market for their products. These economies generate 30% of the world’s economic output and compose a market of about 2 billion people. It seems undeniable that in this way China improves its hegemonic position in Asia. The Indian economy has remained, for now, on the sidelines. Analysts believe that with this agreement Beijing aims to revise the world order. According to the recently elected president Biden, the United States, which represents 25% of the world economy, must establish the rules to be followed in the future, in so doing countering the Chinese initiative. |
