Description
Summary:In Francis’ encyclical Fratelli tutti, Charles de Foucauld is represented as a tremendous testimonial force. He collects and actualizes the legacy of Francis of Assisi, synthesizes and embodies the Gospel content that the Pope exposes in the encyclical, and challenges us in a concrete way where the greatest challenge of our time is taking place. As Madeleine Delbrêl states, Blessed Charles «is, alone, the coincidence of many opposites […] and appears to us rooted in the crossroads of charity. […] He makes the two extremes of love coincide: the immediate neighbor and the whole world”. De Foucauld is presented by Francis as the one who has incarnated in our time the evangelical truth of the yeast that makes the dough ferment.
