| Summary: | The proliferation of contextual theologies points to the perspectival character of all theological systems, underscoring the need for epistemic humility, self-reflexivity, and openness to alterity. Yet, constructive dialogue often proves difficult due to divergent sources of authority and conflicting normative values. I consider proposals by Elaine Graham and Deborah van Deusen Hunsinger, pointing out not only how their postmodern and Barthian pastoral theological models differ, but also where they may be congruent and mutually edifying. Karl Barth attracts skepticism from both “conservatives” and “liberals,” yet each may find in him an ally, resource, and bridge for engaging the other. Die zunehmende Verbreitung kontextueller Theologien macht deutlich, dass theologische Gebilde immer von Perspektivität geprägt sind und dass im Fachgespräch daher epistemische Bescheidenheit, Selbstreflexion und Offenheit für Alterität gefordert sind. Dennoch erweist es sich als schwierig, angesichts widerstreitender Normen und Referenzgrößen einen konstruktiven Dialog zu führen. Dieser Aufsatz behandelt die pastoraltheologischen Entwürfe von Elaine Graham und Deborah van Deusen Hunsinger. Sie erörtert dabei zum einen die Differenzen zwischen ihren postmodernen resp. „barthianischen“ Theologien und arbeitet zum anderen heraus, worin sie übereinstimmen und sich wechselseitig stützen. Karl Barths Theologie stößt sowohl bei „konservativen“ als auch bei „liberalen“ Stimmen des US-amerikanischen Spektrums auf Skepsis. Der Aufsatz kommt zu dem Schluss, dass es dennoch möglich ist, sie als Ressource entdecken, um die Kluft zwischen ihnen zu überbrücken und Dialog zu stiften. |
