| Summary: | In his book Dogma im Wandel Michael Seewald takes the view that the dogmatic frame for reforms and changes within the Catholic Church is larger than generally assumed. Here we challenge this thesis and its argument. The result is: Seewald’s thesis is not compatible with the principles of official Catholic dogma, in particular with the doctrine of the infallibility of the ecclesiastical magisterium, to which he does not pay enough attention. Wherever the discussion about reforms within the Church refers to matters connected with the identity and faith in the Church, the question of infallibility is the theologically crucial point. In seinem Buch Dogma im Wandel vertritt Michael Seewald die Ansicht, dass der dogmatische Rahmen für Reformen und Veränderungen innerhalb der katholischen Kirche größer ist als allgemein angenommen. Diese These und ihre Argumentation wird hier in Frage gestellt. Das Ergebnis lautet: Seewalds These ist nicht vereinbar mit den Prinzipien des offiziellen katholischen Dogmas, insbesondere mit der Lehre von der Unfehlbarkeit des kirchlichen Lehramtes, der er nicht genügend Beachtung schenkt. Wo immer sich die Diskussion über innerkirchliche Reformen auf Fragen bezieht, die mit der Identität und dem Glauben in der Kirche zusammenhängen, ist die Frage der Unfehlbarkeit der theologisch entscheidende Punkt. |
