In this article it is argued that in Philippians 2.6b Paul asserts that Christ did not consider it an advantage to be regarded as equal to a god (or to God). This argument is developed by way of an examination of the structure of the hymn of Philippians 2.6-11, a philological analysis of v. 6, and a contextualisation of the Christ-hymn addressed to Christians living in Philippi, a Roman colony which was like a Rome in miniature. Quelle est la portée de la formule to einai isa theō, lorsqu'elle est resituée dans son contexte d'origine ? La thèse de cet article est la suivante : dans Ph 2.6b, Paul souligne que le Christ n'a pas considéré comme un avantage d'être traité à l'égal d'un dieu (ou de Dieu). Cette thèse est soutenue sur base d'un examen de la structure de l'éloge de Ph 2.6-11, d'une analyse philologique du v. 6, et de la contextualisation de l'éloge du Christ adressé à des chrétiens vivant dans la colonie romaine de Philippes qui est comme une Rome en miniature. |
