| Summary: | Within the collection of ancient church orders, that to which the name Apostolic Church Order was attached has received no more attention than a few scholarly articles in the last hundred years. Composed partly of a version of the ‘Two Ways’ material that is found in the Didache and other works, and for the rest mostly of quite brief directions related to various kinds of ministry, it has not held the same attraction as other members of the genre. Because of this neglect, the time was clearly ripe for another serious examination of its accepted date and provenance (early fourth century, Egypt), and this Alistair Stewart-Sykes has provided. |
