Description
Summary:This paper examines the different exegeses that originate in the Latin middle ages from the star of Matthew (Matthew 2,2.9-10). The diversifi ed exegetic fruit, sprouted from the pre-chosen New Testament knot, emblematically and effi ciently synthesizes the cultural atmospheres, the hot topics, the historical contingencies, and the ideal urgencies that emerge time after time in the Christianitas. Seven important interpretative directions were found: the anti-Judaic star; the kerigmatic star; the anti-astrological star; the heretic star; the allegoric star; the imperial star; the Mariologic star. Such an ample result stems from a most varied documentation, where the «homeliari ̈ and the gospel commentators proved the most fertile textual typologies.
