Summary: | "The diocesan bishop is considering announcing a capital fund drive on the occasion of our diocesan centennial. He plans to design, ate a goal for each parish in the diocese in order to reach an overall goal of $5,000,000. He intends a direct-mail campaign, to all Catholics registered in each parish, and gifts (and pledges) will be sent directly to the diocese. Pastors will be informed regularly of the revenue coming from their parishioners. The monies generated will be used for several purposes: the renovation of the Cathedral, the establishment of a pension fund for priests, and tuition assistance for students attending our Catholic high school. Does the law require the bishop to consult any diocesan groups before he would establish the goals for each parish?" |
