| Summary: | CCEO canon 584: Church's Self Awareness of Her Overall Missionary Nature. As the first of the series devoted to the systematic examination of the CCEO canons regarding the evangelization of People, the contribute frames can. 584 in the context of the Eastern codification and tracks down his prcedents in the Latin Code. Following an overview of the canon sources, the Author focuses on the content of the normative text and favors an interpretation in eastern perspective. Consequently, in the presentation of the various thematic units, the peculiarities of the Eastern Churches are taken into account; in this perspective the Author considers as essantial elements of can. 584 the appeal to integrity of faith and morals, the identification of culture as the new context of evangelization, catechesis, liturgical rites, sacred art, particular law, and the very life of ecclesiastical communities.
