| Summary: | In previous decades, reflection upon the relation of Christian faith and the university has revolved around questions of character formation, or has relied on quite formal models of the place of theology within secular European universities. In this paper, an attempt to provide a truly theological account of the existence of a Christian university itself is offered. As such, this essay seeks to go beyond questions of moral and character formation and the justification of retaining religion within the secular university. Kimlyn J.
