Description
Summary:Abstract: The article presents demographic family data and family-related scales of the Valuegenesis study, demonstrating significant differences in regard to regions and the membership status of parents. Altogether there appears to be a very positive family climate and similar patterns of parenting styles across Europe. Significant correlations could be shown between faith maturity, a positive image of God and intrinsic religiosity on one hand and a good family climate as well as affectionate parents on the other. Cheating was correlated to overprotective parenting. Salvation by works was positively correlated to an overprotective parenting style, and negatively correlated to a permissive parenting style. Extrinsic religiosity is negatively correlated with a good family climate, but positively correlated with an overprotective parenting style. The results and their implications are discussed.
