| Riepilogo: | O objetivo deste texto é apresentar a importância, centralidade, espiritualidade e organização dos estudos na Ordem dos Frades Pregadores (dominicanos), uma nota distintiva da ordem desde sua fundação no século XIII, para defender o Evangelho, deturpado pelas heresias da época, e apre-sentação da perene verdade evangélica. Trata-se de uma homenagem ao Prof. Dr. José J. Queiroz, recém-falecido, que durante muitos anos impregnou-se de modo exemplarmente competente e amoroso desta tradição secular e a transmitiu aos seus numerosos discípulos e colegas de pesquisa e docência, de quem este autor foi orientando no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência da Religião – Faculdade de Ciências Sociais da Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo. The aim of this paper is to present the importance, centrality, spirituality, and structure of the studies within the Order of Preachers (Dominicans), a distinctive feature of the Order since its foundation in the 13th century. This tradition was established to defend the Gospel, which was distorted by the heresies of the time, and to present the perennial evangelical truth. This text is a tribute to Professor Dr. José J. Queiroz, who recently passed away. For many years, Professor Queiroz exemplarily and lovingly immersed himself in this secular tradition, passing it on to his numerous disciples and colleagues in research and teaching, among whom the author of this paper was a student in the Post-Graduation Program in Religious Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences in the Pontifícia Universidade Católica of São Paulo. |
