| Summary: | The image of an obscurantist and rude Spain, incapable of technical and scientific research, has been very popular during the last two hundred and fifty years. It has also been argued that Spain has never had a philosophical thought worthy of the name. Since Spain was an eternally backward and decadent nation, fanatical and almost barbaric, no true philosophy could develop on its soil, nor could scientific and technical advances take place in its midst. But we believe that such a story does not correspond to reality, and this paper aims to contribute to the shattering of that myth. La imagen de una España oscurantista y ruda, incapacitada para la investigación técnica y científica, ha tenido mucho predicamento en los últimos doscientos cincuenta años. También se ha sostenido que en España jamás hubo un pensamiento filosófico digno de tal nombre. Siendo la española una nación sempiternamente atrasada y decadente, fanática y poco menos que bárbara, no podía desplegarse en su suelo una verdadera filosofía, ni podían tener lugar en su seno avances científico-técnicos. Pero consideramos que semejante relato no se corresponde con la realidad, y el presente trabajo pretende contribuir a la trituración de ese mito. |
