| 520 | |a This article offers a new critical edition of an early ninth-century religious poem composed in Old Irish, the Rule of Comgall (falsely attributed to Saint Comgall of Bangor [d. 604]). It includes an introduction, a Spanish translation, and linguistic and translation notes. Like other Irish metrical rules, the work is not proscriptive. Rather, it is a poetic symbolization of the charisma attributed to the patron saint and the religious life led, whether in reality or aspirationally, by his spiritual heirs. This is the first Spanish translation of this work, which casts light on key aspects of Christian spirituality and religious practice in Ireland toward the end of the first millennium. | ||
