| Summary: | Recentemente o cinema tem se tornado fonte de pesquisa para cientistas da religião e es-tudiosos do fenômeno e da experiência religiosa. De fato, filmes podem veicular elementos de conteúdo religioso, alguns de maneira explícita, outros com uma substância religiosa. O cinema pode apresentar tais elementos, que se constituem em objeto de estudo de cientistas da religião enquanto representação ou também enquanto expressão. Neste último caso, um filme pode não ser explicitamente religioso, mas pode expressar sentimentos e preocupações de natureza religio-sa. É nessa perspectiva que se apresenta o presente artigo, que intenciona mostrar o filme “Blade Runner” (1982), de Ridley Scott, como expressão da busca pelo sentido da vida, um tema que é caro à experiência religiosa. Para tanto, o artigo terá a seguinte estrutura: na introdução, conside-rações breves sobre cinema e religião, amplamente falando. A seguir, apresentação da matriz que inspirou o filme, seguida da exposição do seu enredo e dos seus aspectos técnicos. Na sequência, serão apresentadas considerações sobre a questão do transumanismo e reflexões sobre a busca do sentido da vida em “Blade Runner”. Recently, cinema has become a source of research for religious studies scholars and those who study religious phenomena and experience. Indeed, films may convey elements of religious content, some explicitly, others through a religious substance. Cinema can present such elements as representations or expressions, both of which constitute objects of study for scholars in religious studies. In the latter case, a film may not be explicitly religious but can express feelings and concerns of a religious nature. It is from this perspective that the present article is developed, aiming to pre-sent Blade Runner, by Ridley Scott, as an expression of the search for the meaning of life – a theme central to religious experience. To this end, the article is structured as follows: the introduction offers brief considerations on cinema and religion in broad terms; this is followed by a presentation of the matrix that inspired the film, an outline of its plot, and an overview of its technical aspects. Subsequently, the article addresses the topic of transhumanism and the search for the meaning of life in Blade Runner. |
