| Summary: | O livro de Malaquias, que pertence tanto à tradição judaica como à cristã, apresenta duas ques-tões que realçam a raiz da fraternidade humana na perspetiva das religiões monoteístas: “Porventura, não temos nós todos um único pai? Não foi o mesmo Deus que nos criou? Por que razão, pois, somos nós pérfidos uns para com os outros, profanando a aliança de nossos pais?” (2,10). É no contexto desta tradição comum e do diálogo inter-religioso que a Comunidade Israelita do Porto decidiu desenvolver um projeto global em cooperação com a Diocese do Porto, da Igreja Católica. Uma das atividades deste projeto foi a produção de filmes: a curta-metragem O Kaddish da Freira(The Nun’s Kaddish, 2019), as longas-metragens Sefarad (2019), A Luz de Judá (The Light of Judah, 2020), 1618 (2021) e uma segunda curta-metragem, 1506: O Genocídio de Lisboa (1506: The Lisbon Genocide, 2024). Tomando estes filmes como casos de estudo, este artigo pretende analisá-los e exa-minar o papel destas produções artísticas num projeto que procura desvendar as relações históricas entre a comunidade judaica sefardita e a comunidade católica em Portugal. De uma forma mais ampla, com base nas considerações anteriores, procurar-se-á refletir sobre o contributo que a arte cinematográfica pode dar ao diálogo inter-religioso. The book of Malachi, which belongs to both the Jewish and Christian traditions, presents two questions that highlight the root of human brotherhood from the perspective of monotheistic religions: “Have we not all one father? Has not one God created us? Why then are we faithless to one another, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?” (2:10). It is in the context of this common tradition and of interreligious dialogue that the Jewish Community of Porto decided to develop a global project in cooperation with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Porto. One of the activities of this project was the production of four films: the short film The Nun’s Kaddish (2019), the feature films Sefarad (2019), The Light of Judah (2020), 1618 (2021), and a second short film, 1506: The Lisbon Genocide (2024). Taking these films as case studies, this article aims to analyze them and to examine the role of these artistic productions in a project that seeks to unravel the historical relations between the Sephardic Jewish community and the Catholic community in Portugal. More broadly, based on the previous considerations, it will seek to reflect on the contribution that cinematographic art can make to inter-religious dialogue. |
