| Summary: | Focusing on healthcare professionals and chaplains, this article aims to discuss the relationship between religion, spirituality and health, with palliative care as the horizon for discussion, although this is not mentioned exhaustively. Given the apparent lack of differentiation between religious care and spiritual care in healthcare approaches, the perspective chosen here will address the differentiation between these two types of care, understanding that this distinction provides different diagnostic perspectives and, therefore, different types of care. To this end, we will first discuss the difference between religion and spirituality. Next, types of religious suffering and types of spiritual suffering will be raised. The conclusion is that this differentiated approach is important for meeting the spiritual needs of patients, especially in palliative care, where these dimensions manifest themselves more intensely. The methodology used is bibliographic research. Este artigo almeja discutir a relação entre religião, espiritualidade e saúde, tendo como horizonte de discussão os cuidados paliativos, embora estes não sejam exaustivamente mencionados. Diante de uma aparente não diferenciação entre cuidados religiosos ecuidados espirituais nas abordagens de saúde, a perspectiva aqui escolhida trabalhará a diferenciação entre estes dois tipos de cuidados, entendendo que esta distinção propicia perspectivas diagnósticas diferenciadas e, portanto, cuidados também distintos. Assim, pautado em uma metodologia bibliográfica, inicialmente, discutir-se-á a diferença entre religião e espiritualidade. Em seguida, levantar-se-á tipos de sofrimento de ordem religiosa e tipos de sofrimento de ordem espiritual. A conclusão é que esta abordagem diferenciada é importante para que as necessidades espirituais dos pacientes sejam atendidas em suas singularidades, sobretudo nos cuidados paliativos, em que estas dimensões se manifestam de forma mais intensa. |
