The ‘First Forty Years’ of the Buildings of Worship Fund : Origins, Open Questions, and Prospects in the Scholarly Debate · The essay critically reconstructs and analyzes the main legal issues addressed in the scholarly literature regarding the establishment and subsequent developments of the Buildings of Worship Fund (Fondo Edifici di Culto), ranging from the Fund’s pactional origins to the structure of its bodies, from the challenges in identifying the various types of assets that make up its patrimony to the difficulties associated with their management. All of this is considered in light of the special nature of many of these assets, which are of significant cultural interest and, often being used for worship, require cooperation with the Catholic Church. The academic literature has also suggested possible future developments aimed at improving the preservation and enhancement of this important national heritage. |
