| Summary: | Recently I contacted the tribunal of another diocese, the diocese in which the respondent in a marriage nullity case currently resides. Since we do not have competence to handle the case - the marriage was celebrated elsewhere - we wrote requesting consent from the juricial vicar of the respondent, so that we might adjudicate the matter. When the letter granting consent was received, it was signed by the vicar general of the diocese, not the judicial vicar. (Apparently the diocese is a small one and does not have a full-time judicial vicar. There is a lay director of the tribunal). Is the grant of consent by the vicar general valid? |
