Description
Summary:Peace as research theme in New Testament studies. This research article investigates peace as an underdeveloped theme in New Testament studies. Its first part documents this situation by analysing the role of the Bible and biblical research in the extensive social, theological and ecclesiastical discourse on war, violence and peace. In following parts the article investigates some recent literature in New Testament studies on peace and evaluates its place in the discipline as representing a reversal of the limited attention to peace and as illustration of the need for more research. In a fourth part the reasons why peace as a theme is relatively underdeveloped, are spelled out, whilst a fifth section investigates the need for and challenges to exploring peace adequately within New Testament Studies.
