Description
Summary:Two earthquakes or one? The association of literary motifs in the exegesis of Matthew 27:51-54 & 28:2-4 By means of a detailed analysis of the association of literary themes, the development of a motif of Matthew 27:51 and 28:2 is traced through diverse Patristic and Byzantine authors. This is done in order to illustrate how the two earthquakes of Matthew 27 and 28, respectively, came to be fused into one in some representations of the Paschal events.
