| Summary: | The cathedral of Manresa keeps an altarpiece with Catalan late Gothic paintings devoted to the Holy Trinity in the chapel bearing the same name, built between 1480 and 1484. So far it was believed to be the work of an obscure painter named Gabriel Guàrdia, coming from Manresa and hired in 1501. However, new documents show that this altarpiece was in fact ordered in 1506 to Antoni Marquès, a painter set in Barcelona and related to Jaume Huguet?s pupils; he completed it in 1507. L'església de la Seu de Manresa conserva un retaule de pintura gòtica tardana catalana dedicat a la Santíssima Trinitat en la capella homònima construïda entre els anys 1480 i 1484. Fins ara, hom el creia obra d'un obscur pintor anomenat Gabriel Guàrdia, originari de Manresa, amb qui hom l'havia contractat l'any 1501; tanmateix, nova documentació palesa que, en realitat, aquest retaule fou contractat l'any 1506 amb Antoni Marquès, pintor documentat a Barcelona i relacionat amb els deixebles de Jaume Huguet, que l'enllestí l'any 1507. |
