Description
Summary:This article affirms the theological imperative of hiding God’s word in the Christian’s heart and using memory strategies to achieve this goal. The first section contributes a unique and appropriate theological, theoretical, and practical pathway forward in using the testing effect and memory palaces in a discipleship context. The pilot study section introduces two memory strategies (testing effect and memory palaces) into a unique and contemporary discipleship context, showing increased retention rates when the sample was exposed to each strategy. The qualitative follow-up section contributes to the ongoing conversation about how implementing strategies might improve the effectiveness and enjoyment of particular areas of discipleship.
