| Summary: | The Revelation of John is a visually powerful book. Images that, through modern interpretations, can be encountered by students in other media. This article is concerned with the question whether these images can open up the possibility of dealing with existential questions. Furthermore, it should be discussed how the students can use them to reflect on the fact that even when writings do not describe factual events, they can offer room for different interpretations. Der Beitrag soll der Frage gewidmet werden, inwiefern die Offenbarung des Johannes mit ihren bildgewaltigen Vorstellungen vom Untergang der Welt für Schüler*innen, deren mediale Welt oft durch Fantasyromane geprägt ist, eine besondere Chance eröffnet, sich mit existenziellen Fragen auseinanderzusetzen. Im Hintergrund steht dabei die These, dass insbesondere fiktionale Texte wie die Offenbarung des Johannes Schüler*innen die Möglichkeit bieten, zu reflektieren, dass Schriften, auch wenn sie keine faktischen Begebenheiten schildern, Erkenntnisse schenken können. |
