Abstract: With the m.p. De concordia inter Codices, the legislator intervened a second time on the CIC with some updates on the canonical form of marriage, in particular specifying that the qualified assistant must be a priest, both when it comes to celebrating the marriage between two Eastern parties or between a Latin and an Eastern party, Catholic or non-Catholic, and also in mixed marriages with an Eastern non-Catholic party, where the intervention of the priest is required for validity. The qualified assistant, moreover, can assist both subjects and, provided that at least one party belongs to the Latin Church, non-subjects. Finally, the most problematic issue from the point of view of Latin canon law is the introduction of the possibility that the Catholic priest receives from his Ordinary the faculty to bless the marriage of Eastern non-Catholics, if they request it spontaneously and if nothing opposes the lawful and valid celebration.
