| Zusammenfassung: | Though many factors contributed to the outbreak of revivals throughout Germany in 1816, the Moravians played an important role. In some places, such as in Berlin, they contributed directly to the outbreak of revival. Even in places where they were not directly involved in the advent of the Awakening, they nonetheless contributed to it in several ways. Some leading figures in the Awakening Movement were converted by the Moravians. Others zealously read biographies of Zinzendorf and Spangenberg, as well as the Moravian Watchwords. Many participants in the Awakening Movement visited Herrnhut and other Moravian communities. They also collected funds for Moravian missions and followed the Moravian example by sending out missionaries. |
