Questo articolo cerca di spiegare il divario tra percezione e realtà attraverso uno studio diacronico di questo assioma, a partire dai suoi precursori nel XIX secolo, dalla sua presunta formulazione nel decreto Lamentabili sane exitu (1907), e dai dibattiti sulla natura e sul concetto di rivelazione prima, durante e dopo il Concilio Vaticano II. La ricostruzione storica mira a identificare le questioni speculative che portano i teologi ad abbracciare, rifiutare o reinterpretare l'assioma nelle sue forme popolari. El axioma teológico que sostiene que "la Revelación se terminó con la muerte del último apóstol", a pesar de la percepción popular, nunca es utilizado por la Iglesia en sus documentos oficiales. Este artículo intenta dar cuenta del desfase entre percepción y realidad mediante un estudio cronológico de este axioma, empezando por sus precursores en el siglo XIX, pasando su formulación putativa en el decreto Lamentabili sane exitu (1907) y concluyendo en los debates sobre la naturaleza y el concepto de revelación antes, durante y después del Concilio Vaticano II. La reconstrucción histórica pretende identificar las cuestiones especulativas que llevan a los teólogos a abrazar, rechazar o reinterpretar el axioma en sus formas populares. The theological axiom that holds that “Revelation was closed with the death of the last apostle”, despite popular perception, is never used by the Church in its official documents. This article attempts to account for the gap between perception and reality through a chronological study of this axiom, starting with its precursors in the Nineteenth Century, its putative formulation in the decree Lamentabili sane exitu (1907), and the debates about the nature and concept of revelation before, during and after the Second Vatican Council. The historical reconstruction aims at identifying the speculative issues that lead theologians to embrace, reject or reinterpret the axiom in its popular forms. |
