| Summary: | This special issue explores the evolving landscape of freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) amid political fragmentation, digital transformation, and geopolitical competition. Moving beyond a state-centric legal paradigm, the contributions examine how FoRB is shaped by national histories, postcolonial legacies, and structural inequalities. They analyze intersections with populism, nationalism, and cultural heritage protection, while assessing the role of measurement tools in evidence-based policy. Addressing challenges such as online surveillance, securitization, and anti-pluralist ideologies, the volume advances a multidimensional agenda linking migration, employment equity, education, and cultural preservation. Collectively, these essays offer strategies to translate FoRB principles into context-sensitive practice. |
